Postdated entry, I'm way behind this week but couldn't pass up questions on my favorite holiday...
1. What was your first Halloween costume? I was a gypsy (before I could even walk!), my mom said she put some of her dangly earrings on me and they dressed me up and my dad carried me from door to door.
2. What was your best costume and why? Oh gosh, even when I was a kid I tended to stick to the gothic genre so most of my costumes have been really similar (long, black...). I didn’t really go in for the Ben Cooper costumes, I’ve always hated wearing masks. I did a lot of gypsies, witches and vampires growing up, and still do. I did a semi-official Elvira a few years ago that turned out really well. I found this super-sexy long velvet dress with a sheer inset in front and a self choker, and bought an actual Elvira beehive wig and went nuts on the makeup. I know that’s my husband’s favorite costume ;-)
3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat? No, we were good kids in 60’s white suburbia.
4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.) We’d carve a pumpkin every year, one year I tried to cook the seeds (not advised). My dad would get home from work, scarf down a sandwich and take us out because it was always dark by then.
5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend! Not Halloween related, but the story that scared me the most growing up was a story I read in Reader’s Digest about a girl who was kidnapped and buried alive in a box with tubes for air. It was a true story and there were even illustrations... shudder. I think that’s when my claustrophobia began.
